    I've been following every new motorcycle since the dawn of time. the Himalayan 2023, is one of the best looking dual sport motorcycles of the last 40 years. It is what all the other big name bikes should look like, had they not tried to force a new redesign. Plain is beautiful, and everyone knows that. The Himalayan has a 1990's aesthestic, and the bikes from the late 1990's were the best looking motorcycles in history.

    My Sport Chief gets the same error sometimes. After a cylinder misfires it sometimes stops using that cylinder until you restart. The dealership says this is harmless on the engine but it can be annoying to only have 1 cylinder working until you pull over & restart the engine. That said, I've only had to pull over & restart one time. The check engine light is just always on though, which is silly since if anything genuinely bad happens I won't be alerted by the check engine light.

    A sudden loss of power in an Indian Chief Dark Horse motorcycle could be caused by several factors: 1. **Fuel System Issues**: - **Fuel Pump Failure**: If the fuel pump isn’t working properly, it can cause a sudden drop in fuel delivery. - **Clogged Fuel Filter**: A clogged filter can restrict fuel flow, leading to power loss. - **Empty Fuel Tank**: Simply running out of fuel. 2. **Electrical Problems**: - **Battery Issues**: A weak or failing battery can cause power loss. - **Loose or Corroded Connections**: Poor connections can disrupt the electrical system. - **Faulty Alternator**: If the alternator fails, the battery may not charge, leading to power loss. 3. **Engine Problems**: - **Sensor Failure**: A faulty sensor (e.g., oxygen sensor, MAP sensor) can lead to improper engine management. - **Ignition System Issues**: Problems with spark plugs or ignition coils can cause misfires and power loss. - **Mechanical Failure**: Issues like a blown head gasket or poor compression can affect engine performance. 4. **Air Intake and Exhaust Issues**: - **Clogged Air Filter**: A restricted air filter can reduce airflow to the engine. - **Exhaust Blockage**: A blockage can cause back pressure and power loss. 5. **ECU or Software Issues**: - **ECU Malfunction**: Problems with the engine control unit (ECU) can affect performance. - **Software Glitches**: Software issues might affect how the bike manages power delivery. 6. **Transmission Problems**: - **Clutch Slippage**: A slipping clutch can cause power loss. - **Gear Issues**: Problems with the transmission can affect power transfer. **Immediate Actions**: - **Check Fuel**: Ensure there is enough fuel in the tank. - **Inspect Battery**: Check for charge and connections. - **Look for Error Codes**: Use a diagnostic tool to check for any error codes in the ECU. For a precise diagnosis, consulting a professional mechanic or authorized service center is recommended.

    Had this happen a number of times on my Challenger. First incident was riding on highway, loss of power, let bike sit, fired back up codes persisted but power was available again, rode it to dealership. Battery terminals had some corrosion, leading to connection issue leading to voltage issue, leading to code. Also had a TPS sensor replacement for a second occurrence under warranty to deal with any other possible causes. Finally, I would get this diagnostic report and warning after having my bike on trickle charger, and on first start up. After period of time riding code cleared itself. From my experiences the codes all stemmed from voltage issues. I hope this helps! Hope this helps

    Gday Paul, this will be a fun and frustrating project. My initial thoughts are to take photos of where you sit in conjunction to where the top of the screen sits. You may be sitting a tad high and the air is hitting you almost square on the face. I found when i switched screens on my bike (im 5'7") the stock screen is 6 inches high, changed to a 9 inch screen, wow it made a difference. If you put an air duct in at the bottom the air flow will potentially hit you under the chin, at the moment i think its flowing up and around the front of the tank as well as up,so maybe see if you can adjust the screen down a little? My other suggestion is to maybe add a lip to the top of the screen to direct the air over your head better

    • @BikesILike
      @BikesILike 4 дні тому

      The air hits me square on without a screen but is nice and clean so doesn't bother me in that respect. The problem is the air being dirtied as it comes over the top of the screen. If I can clean up that turbulence, I won't mind the air coming full on to the helmet MM. Yeah, I want the air coming up under my chin to fill in the negative air pressure, that's the purpose of this test. I want to see if negating that negative air pressure solves the turbulence issue. If I move my knees in and out, I can affect the turbulence coming in from up and around the tank, but that's a separate issue. I've tracked the helmet turbulence back to the top edge of the screen. I did have one of those lip type deflectors on my previous bike and it worked well. I want to experiment with different solutions for this one.

    What you have my beauty is a knife-edge screen top, the air separates at the screen top and causes turbulence. The easiest way to cure that is by having a wavy edged or toothed edge to the top of the screen or by applying a brush edge topping to the screen which reduces the shear separation of the air when it gets to the top of the screen.

    • @BikesILike
      @BikesILike 4 дні тому

    All I can say is "best of luck". It's definitely worth a try. I own a Moto Guzzi v85tt and the buffeting was terrible with the OEM screen and two aftermarket screens as well. Finally, I purchased wind deflectors that attach to the front of the fuel tank and installed a tiny fly screen. Lots of wind blast and much less buffeting. Currently I am tempted to purchase a Puig screen with mostly positive reviews. However, twice bitten thrice shy.

    Yamaha was able to completely eliminate buffeting with its XV1900 Stratoliner by extending the windshield downwards on the sides of the headlight. The lower ends were aerodynamically curved inward, which cleanly deflected the wind along the tank. In fact, the lower end of the screen is much more important than one would think.

      Good point Michael. I have considered that, but when I reach out I can definitely follow the buffeting back to me from the top edge of the screen. But I will look at that again, cheers.

      @@BikesILike lower deflectors are worth a try imho. Another alternative would be a flatter angle for the windscreen to create a cleaner bubble. This does work but probably needs a slightly bigger screen. With the current size it might be interesting to try a very steep angle, since the upper edge might then cut the wind more cleanly and deflect to the side rather than to the top. There are also "recurve" windshields that deflect the air far over the head.
